Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. will be the fifth anniversary of the founding of the Thelma D. Jones Breast Cancer Fund (TDJBCF), and Jones’s 65th birthday celebration. The venue will be at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church. Highlights of the celebration include a reception, musical and vocal performances, and door prizes. DC City Councilmember Charles Allen, Bonita Pennino of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, and Anthia Peters, a survivor and volunteer with the TDJBCF Breast Cancer Fund, among others, will give tributes for the celebratory occasion. Proceeds from the birthday and anniversary celebration will benefit breast health outreach, education, and prevention with an ultimate goal of reducing the incidences of breast cancer and saving lives.
