TDJBCF Support Group Meeting
Join us for a powerful and inspiring evening at the Thelma D. Jones Breast Cancer Fund (TDJBCF) Virtual Support Group Meeting, as we welcome Smith Center for Healing and the Arts for a special session on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 6:30 PM EDT via Zoom. This month’s meeting, titled “An Evening with Smith Center for Healing and the Arts,” will be emceed and facilitated by Lisa Simms Booth, Executive Director of the Smith Center, who will guide us through an evening of healing, insight, and advocacy. The event will be streamed live on the TDJBCF Facebook page and is open to all individuals affected by breast cancer, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and community members seeking education and support.
We will be honored by a warm welcome from Thelma D. Jones, Founder, TDJBCF, who continues to inspire us with her tireless advocacy and dedication as a breast cancer thriver. The evening will feature an engaging presentation by Julia Rowland, Senior Strategic Advisor at the Smith Center, followed by a research spotlight from Katarina (Kate) AuBuchon, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, who will share her work on “Creating and Testing a Self-Acupressure Intervention for Breast Cancer Survivors.” This innovative approach offers new tools for survivorship and wellness.
The event will also highlight voices of empowerment through advocacy. Kristina “Krissy” Wint, MPH, Senior Manager of Community Impact at the PAN Foundation, will speak on financial resources to help reduce financial toxicity
which is crucial for ensuring access to quality healthcare and improving overall well-being. Sylvia Powers, Project Coordinator at the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC), will close the evening with reflections on “The Power of Advocacy,” emphasizing how individual and collective voices can transform care and outcomes. Don’t miss this heartfelt, informative gathering—mark your calendars and spread the word.
