- Completed training and serve as a facilitator for both the evidenced-based Stanford University Chronic Disease Self-Management Program and Cancer: Thriving and Surviving Program Cross-Training, Department of Health, August 2017 – present
- Lobbied DC City Council on tobacco cessation program and other related cancer issues as an award-winning American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Ambassador, 2011- present
- Represented ACS CAN at The White House Cancer Moonshot Summit at Howard University and became the subject of a media release, June 2016
- Testified on Capitol Hill with former NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, among others, to increase funding for cancer research in March 2015
- Served on the Living Beyond Breast Cancer (LLBC) Consumer Advisory Committee to review their new guide about HER2+ breast cancer, March 2015. Thelma D. Jones is HER2+.
- Selected and participated in a televised national press conference with former President Barack Obama and other advocates on the Affordable Care Act and its impact on women and children, including a personal tour of The White House, May 2013
- Served on a White House panel with Dr. Jill Biden, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and actress and breast cancer advocate Jennifer Aniston to discuss barriers to screening and the importance of early detection, October 2011
- Nominated as a White House Champion of Change, October 2011, including serving on a White House panel on breast cancer.
